UVL Submersible UV Module for Pharmaceutical Facility: A Reliable Water Disinfection Solution

As specialists in ultraviolet disinfection, we deliver complete solutions — from germicidal light sources and control systems to quartz sleeves and fully assembled UV units. Our equipment is designed to meet the strictest standards for water, air, and surface treatment in regulated industries.

Project Overview

One of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturers contacted us with the challenge of maintaining water purity in polypropylene tanks following reverse osmosis. These horizontal plastic tanks hold up to 2 cubic meters of water. The water enters from the top and exits either by gravity or pump, meaning the internal water level fluctuates regularly.

The Challenge

The goal was to prevent microbial growth in the storage tanks without resorting to chemical disinfectants. The client needed a stable and efficient UV disinfection system that would operate reliably despite changing water levels. Importantly, the solution had to integrate seamlessly into the existing setup without modifying the tanks or disrupting production processes.

The Solution

After thoroughly reviewing the site layout and technical documentation, our engineers recommended the UVL-Mod 19130 submersible UV module. The client agreed to conduct a test run of the system, and just weeks later, confirmed excellent results.

The UV system was installed into one of the auxiliary tanks and has been running continuously ever since. It operates maintenance-free and complies fully with pharmaceutical-grade disinfection standards — without any chemical additives.

Technical Specifications:

  • Lamp Power: 130 W
  • UV Output: 45 W
  • Module Length: 914 mm
  • Lamp Type: Amalgam, ozone-free
  • Lifespan: 16,000 hours
  • Water Temperature Range: 5°C to 40°C
  • Maximum Flow Rate: up to 5 m³/h
  • Recommended Pipe Diameter: 90–100 mm

The module includes: a fluoroplastic sealing assembly, protective quartz sleeve, 10-meter power cable, and waterproof junction box.

Benefits of UVL-Mod 19130

  • Chemical-free disinfection: No need for chlorine or other reagents
  • Safe and clean: No by-products or residual contamination
  • Energy-efficient: High-performance amalgam lamp with low maintenance cost
  • Highly reliable: Consistent operation even with fluctuating water levels
  • Long service life: 16,000-hour lamp runtime ensures dependable performance

Results

After implementing the UVL-Mod 19130 system, the client confirmed consistent and effective microbial control. The UV radiation neutralizes harmful bacteria and microorganisms, and the unit operates flawlessly without manual adjustments.

The system proved to be a perfect match for their disinfection needs — especially in an industry where reliability, safety, and simplicity are paramount. Following successful performance, the company plans to expand its use to other production sites.
