Germicidal UV Air Recirculators for a Seafood Processing Plant

Project Overview

A large seafood processor operating storage, primary processing, and packaging areas needed to reduce airborne microbial load in spaces with constant staff presence, temperature swings, high humidity, and large volumes of raw product. Treatment zones exceeded 100 m², and the solution had to disinfect air with people present and without stopping the technological process.

Challenges

Previous approaches were insufficient: aerosol treatments required evacuating personnel, and exhaust ventilation alone could not guarantee microbiological safety. The client needed a system that would:

  • Provide continuous UV air disinfection in occupied rooms.
  • Operate without workflow interruptions.
  • Comply with ultraviolet exposure safety for personnel.
  • Require minimal maintenance and simple operation.

Solution

Based on site data, we recommended six wall-mounted UVL-Aero 400 germicidal air recirculators designed for rooms up to 200 m³.

Why this model:

  • Throughput 400 m³/h per unit; proven 99.9% reduction against Staphylococcus aureus.
  • Certified for safe use around people under international UV safety guidelines.
  • Stable operation at 220 V / 50 Hz; UV lamp life up to 16,000 h.

Equipment Highlights

Each UVL-Aero 400 features:

  • Amalgam, ozone-free UV lamp (germicidal spectrum 254 nm).
  • Three axial fans (17.2 W each) for steady airflow.
  • Stainless-steel housing, low noise ≤ 44 dBA.
  • Mobile stand with wheels for quick repositioning.
  • Compact size: 1200 × 385 × 160 mm.
  • Volumetric UV dose ≥ 385 J/m³ for consistent air treatment.

Implementation

We analyzed the facility’s documentation to calculate the exact count and configuration. Production started immediately after approval; packing and shipping were scheduled to match the plant’s receiving window. All units were delivered as a complete kit with accessories and documentation.

Results & Benefits

The recirculator fleet enables the plant to:

  • Maintain a stable hygienic background in processing areas.
  • Lower the risk of airborne contamination of products.
  • Reduce sanitation costs versus periodic chemical treatments.
  • Meet air hygiene requirements without unnecessary downtime.
