Project Overview
We recently completed a project for a major dairy manufacturer looking to improve hygiene standards on their yogurt packaging line. The goal was to implement ultraviolet disinfection directly on the conveyor belt, treating plastic bottles before they were filled with product. The solution had to deliver a reliable UV dose without disrupting production.
Technical Approach
After on-site evaluation, our engineering team identified the ideal mounting point for the system. Based on the conveyor speed and the target UV exposure level of 35 mJ/cm², we calculated a required power output of approximately 500 watts.
In the limited installation space (under 1 meter), we integrated three 180W high-efficiency UV lamps into a compact, stainless steel enclosure. The system was equipped with guiding rails for easy mounting, a dedicated UV sterilizer stand, and a control cabinet for operation and safety management. All mounting methods were pre-approved with the client to ensure seamless deployment.
Installation took place during scheduled maintenance, and within a single day the unit was fully installed and operational—eliminating the need for line stoppage.
Outcome
The bottles now arrive pre-sterilized at the filling station, reducing microbial contamination risks and significantly increasing yogurt shelf life. The process has led to fewer product losses and improved consistency in storage quality.
Safety and Efficiency Features
- All UV disinfection lamps are manufactured with shatterproof coatings, suitable for food-grade environments.
- A safety system automatically halts the conveyor if any lamp malfunctions.
- The system activates only once the lamps reach full irradiance, thanks to a delayed start mechanism.
- For operator protection, flexible silicone shielding was installed to block stray UV radiation.
Modular Design Option
We also offer a self-integration service: send us your line parameters, and we’ll provide lamp selection, housing design, and dosing calculations. You install the system with full technical documentation.
